Library Support Group members at Shirehall to hand in the petition.

The petition signed by 1102 people was handed in to Shropshire Council at Shirehall yesterday.

The petition, which contained the signatures of over a quarter of the town’s population, calls

on Shropshire Council to keep the town’s Library in its’ current location and abandon plans to move it to the Academy on the outskirts of the town.

Because the petition was signed by over a 1,000 people, the Council are obligated to hold a 15-minute debate on the matter. This will take place at the full Council Meeting on the 26th February, when the Library Support Group will formally present the petition to the Council.
