On Thursday 26th February, Hazel Whitehouse of the Library Support Group gave a presentation on the case for keeping the Library where it is to the full Shropshire Council meeting at the Shirehall in Shrewsbury.
The presentation was made possible by the huge response to our petition to keep the Library in its’ present position, which attracted over 1,100 signatures.
Over 20 support group members travelled to the Shirehall to support Hazel and filled the public gallery, holding their “Keep It Where It Is” placards.
Hazel’s presentation made it very clear that there is an overwhelmingly strong case for keeping the Library in its’ current location.
Felicity Thomas, for the Support Group, said “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to take our arguments to the most important democratic decision-making body in Shropshire. Councillors now have no excuse whatsoever for not understanding the case for retention.”
