On Friday 26th June, solicitors acting for Church Stretton Library Support Group formally launched the legal challenge to Shropshire Council’s decision to close the town centre library and relocate it at the school on the outskirts of town. Papers were served on the Council in the first stage of the Judicial Review process. The Support Group are seeking to quash the Council’s decision of 27th March to move the library to the school.
A preliminary hearing will be held at which the Support Group’s legal team will seek the permission of the court to proceed with a full hearing. No date has been set for the preliminary hearing, but any developments will be notified to supporters and posted on the website.
