Many thanks to all the library supporters who turned out for the “Drop-In” at the silvester Horne Institute on 19th July.
The event gave the Library Support Group an oportunity to explain our vision for the future of the library,
As can be seen from the accompanying photographs, our stall attracted many people wanting to learn about our plans and they were impressed by the depth of information we were able to provide.
Thanks must go to all the volunteers who came along to man the stall during those 4 hours and dealt so efficently with the questions they were asked. Many thanks also to the team who set up and took down the stall and those who came along with messages of support.
The event was organised by Church Stretton Town Council as part of their consultation process into the future funding and management of those services which Shropshire Council have declared they intend to cease funding. The “drop-in” was an opportunity for members of the public to come and find out more about the different options for each service and the proposed management arrangements, any volunteer requirements and predicated costs,
The consultation will set out the options for retaining these services (or not), together with the cost implications for local council tax payers.
This will take the form of a numbered survey which will be provided for each household, with an on-line version for additional household members/for preference of use.
The Library Support Group asks that, in completing the household survey, you give your support to keeping the library in its current position in the centre of town and at the heart of the community.
