Shropshire Council received over 500 responses from residents to the consultation on the Church Stretton library service earlier this summer.
Residents said their top 3 priorities were:
|Voted as Very Important by:
|1: The library is accessible for all those wishing to use the facility||90.19% of residents|
|2 The library is located in a town centre location
|84.34% of residents|
|3 The library offers a safe environment to all users||77.36% of residents
Shropshire Council have now published draft documents describing the new library service and the criteria they will use to select an organisation to manage this service.
They are running a further consultation from August 21st to 18th September
to ask residents if the draft documents they have drawn up reflect what people said.
This is not a user – friendly questionnaire and to respond one has to first read and cross reference:
- The full results of the consultation
- Proposed tender questions
- Proposed tender scoring scheme
- The Church Stretton Library Service Specification
This is not for the faint hearted!!
You can find all the above documents and how to respond to this consultation at http://new.shropshire.gov.uk/get-involved/selection-criteria-for-the-appointment-of-a-new-organisation-to-manage-library-services-in-church-stretton/
Paper copies are also available at the following locations: the library, leisure centre, Mayfair Health and Well-Being Centre, and Church Stretton Town Council’s office.
Top Tip: Keep the top 3 priorities people voted for in mind when reading these documents and keep asking yourself does the document reflect these priorities!!
NB As Church Stretton Library Support Group will be submitting a bid to run the library in its current setting it would be inappropriate for us to let people know our views on these documents.
